Airparx supports the transformation of GLL Barking Sporthouse and Gym into a modern family entertainment space

GLL Barking Sporthouse and Gym has unveiled a refreshed family entertainment offer, bringing new attractions, brighter play spaces and more ways for children and families to stay active together.

The project has transformed the facility into a more modern, engaging community leisure destination, with a mix of attractions designed to support active play, family visits and group activities.

Working alongside The Play Company and utilising Rugged Interactive, the installation is now complete after years of planning, collaboration and development.

The result is a bold, colourful space that gives children more freedom to move, play and challenge themselves in a safe and exciting environment. From refreshed trampoline areas to interactive activity zones, the new offer has been designed with the local community in mind.

One of the standout additions is the Strike Challenge Zone, which brings a competitive and interactive element into the space. It encourages movement, reaction speed and physical activity, giving children a fun way to burn energy while staying engaged.

The bright trampolines also play a key role in the new look facility, offering children a space to jump, explore and express themselves. For families, schools and community groups, the upgraded space creates more opportunities to come together and enjoy active play in a setting that feels fresh, accessible and full of energy.

For Airparx, projects like this are exactly why modern leisure spaces matter. Family entertainment is no longer just about adding equipment to a room. It is about creating environments that work harder for the community, give operators more flexibility and make active play feel exciting again.

Daniel Laight, Junior Products Manager for GLL, said:

“This project has been a true labour of care and collaboration, bringing together partners who share a commitment to supporting our community whilst keeping children engaged and active.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see something that will make a real difference, creating opportunities for families and community groups to come together, stay active and enjoy these shared moments with us.”

The completed installation marks an exciting step forward for Barking Sporthouse and Gym, strengthening its position as a community-focused leisure destination for families, young people and local groups.

With a refreshed attraction mix now in place, the venue is better equipped to support active entertainment, community wellbeing and shared family experiences.

And that is what projects like this should be about.

More movement. More connection. More reasons for families to come back.
