The Brief
In Q1 2024, Airparx was approached by Oxygen Activeplay, a key account with whom we had already completed a number of successful refurbishments. This project, however, marked a major milestone in our collaboration – Oxygen’s first brand-new facility opening, and we were entrusted with equipping it.
They had an empty shell building which required a complete transformation. After multiple design iterations to make it perfect, we developed a dynamic, multi-attraction Family Entertainment Centre (FEC) featuring a trampoline free bounce zone, large inflatable, parkour area, jump tower with airbag landing area, Interactive Strike Arena, PowrPlay sports pitch and more.
The facility needed to feel like more than a place for your children to burn energy. It was all about creating an immersive all-in-one day out for the family, and that was exactly what we delivered!
The Challenge
With a design successfully agreed upon, Oxygen required a quick and efficient installation process. The project came with a tight turnaround, giving us just six weeks to transform an empty shell – nothing more than four walls and a single light – into a fully operational Family Entertainment Centre.
Collaboration was essential to ensure every stage of the process was meticulously planned and executed within the tight timeframe, working seamlessly alongside building contractors, other trades, and the project management team.
The Process
Work began in Q1 2024, focusing on abiding by the strict time constraints and budget requirements. To bring the our plans to life, we worked closely with the Oxygen team, alongside architects, principal contractors and consultants to ensure that every aspect was installed to perfection.
Our designs were developed to meet ISO 23659 safety standards, guaranteeing a safe and secure facility for families to enjoy. From concept to completion, Airparx delivered a jam-packed, safe and immersive experience within a soon-to-be booming Family Entertainment Centre!
The Result
Oxygen Activeplay York opened as a next-generation Family Entertainment Centre, packed with a diverse range of attractions.
Delivered on time and within budget, the park has quickly proven to be one of Oxygen’s most successful locations, solidifying its reputation as one of the UK’s leading indoor leisure operators for families. The overwhelming success directly leans towards further scalability and expansion opportunities for Oxygen in the future.
