Soft Play Area for a Leisure Centre in the UK

The Brief
In the year 2021, Everyone Active’s Bracknell leisure centre branch identified the need to completely revamp their children’s play offering as their existing site was outdated including a total rebrand.
Their over-arching objectives were to increase foot print and their party offering adding an improved revenue stream to their site.
Airparx were tasked with designing, manufacturing and installing a new and improved play structure, toddler area and to make best use of their mezzanine with interactive play, overall appealing to multiple age groups.
The Challenge
The existing site dated back to the 1970’s and Airparx collaborated with specialist architects and builders to make best use of the space available.
As the new site aimed to target multiple age groups, the finer details in design were crucial to ensure all age groups had access to the appropriate activities available from the younger age groups typically with the parents, and the older age groups moving more independently.
The existing site also shared space with a dance studio, a soft play area and a squash court. Our goal was to create a good customer flow between all 3 locations.
The Process
First, to ensure the brief was clear, we collaborated with site to understand the target market, or in this case, target markets, breaking them down and placing the age groups across the area by new and innovative designs.
We listened to what they did and didn’t liked about their current offering and branding, and we helped create a package that would ensure longevity. Design alterations produced and costed, were reviewed quickly and effectively which allowed Airparx to transition into manufacturing and installing swiftly.
The Result
Play World Bracknell was installed in 2024 – a brand new soft play area featuring a whole host of attractions including an Astra slide, rope bridges, an interactive football pitch, a Freestyle Duo, ball pools and a Baby and Toddler area.
The key to success was working with Vincent-Stokes, a construction company who were able to operationalise our design plans and after 3 years, we were able to install in time and on budget.
